Megan Mefford, Coordinator of International Admission, Immigration and Advising & PDSO

Picture of MeganMegan has had the pleasure of working with international students at HSU since 2006. Megan is responsible for the day-to day operations of international admission, immigration and support advising for HSU international students. She advises international students through the admission process continuing her support through her ongoing advisement on immigration and academic policies. Megan is a graduate of Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology (2004) and a Master’s degree in Education (2014). During her undergraduate degree, she studied abroad at the University of Ghana, Legon, spending much of that time outside the classroom traveling through Ghana to Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo and Benin. She has had the pleasure of visiting many other countries in Europe and Central America over the years. She loves beautiful Humboldt County and enjoys spending her free time with her family. Megan enjoys meeting and serving students from around the world.

Emily Kirsch, International Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator

Picture of EmilyEmily is responsible for the recruitment and marketing of Humboldt State University to international students, as well as management of communications and relations with international partners.  Emily is an HSU graduate, completing her BA in International Studies with a Chinese Studies emphasis in 2007.  She graduated with her Master’s in International Education degree at SIT Graduate Institute in 2014, and has recently begun a PhD program in International Education Leadership at the University of Minnesota.  During her undergraduate degree, she spent one semester studying abroad at Xi’an International Studies University (XISU) in Xi’an, China, studying Mandarin Chinese.  Upon returning, she worked in the Office of Admissions at HSU before joining the Center for International Programs (CIP) in 2011.  She enjoys working with students from all over the world and welcoming them to the wonderful community of Humboldt - one of her very favorite moments is when new students see the giant redwoods or the ocean for the first time.
