Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Sofia Pereira: In February 2022, Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services – Public Health published the 2022-2027 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). Learn more about the CHIP and Live Well Humboldt, a community-wide initiative guided by the partnership, expertise, and passion of individuals and organizations from multiple sectors across our county working to increase equitable opportunities for health and well-being in our community.
Sofia Pereira is the public health director for Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services, working to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. She oversees the environmental health, nursing, and healthy communities and WIC divisions, the public health laboratory, and other programs in administration. Her career in public service includes serving several years as an Arcata city councilmember and mayor, legislative staff at the county and state level, working on campaigns from the local to congressional level, and growing a national nonprofit’s women’s political leadership programs. Her professional and volunteer work has been focused on creating healthy and vibrant communities. Sofia has volunteered with several organizations during her time in Humboldt, including as a board member for Six Rivers Planned Parenthood, as former president of Lost Coast Rotaract, and currently serving as a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Eureka and board member for the Humboldt Library Foundation. When she’s not working or volunteering, Sofia enjoys exploring nature, attending community events, and traveling with her family.
