Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Rees Hughes, Volunteer Trail Stewards: Late spring and early summer are great times for walking in Humboldt County. Learn about opportunities to see flowers and take advantage of low tides, visit new trails (the Arcata Ridge Trail is complete and the McKay Community Forest is in process) and enjoy old favorites.

Rees is author of Hiking Humboldt: 101 Shorter Day Hikes, Urban and Road Walks, and Crossing Paths: A Pacific Crest Trailside Reader. He helps coordinate the Volunteer Trail Stewards program, serves on the Board of the Bigfoot Trail Association, is a member of the Bay Trail Fund Committee, and is writing Hiking Humboldt for Kids and Families (hopefully available by May, 2023).

Volunteer Trail Stewards work on trails in 10 locations in the area. Volunteers build, maintain, and serve as eyes and ears on these trails. We're always looking for new volunteers.
