Special Interest Group: Beyond the Checkered Board

44143

With Jerry Saner, Group Leader

This special interest group will introduce you to the world of board games that is beyond the mainstream games like Monopoly, Sorry, Parcheesi, Life, etc. Discover the various genres of board games -- deck builders, chit and pull, hex and counter, tile layers, and others.

You will learn how to play games with different mechanics on a variety of subjects including history, fantasy, comic characters, abstract, and more.

You are encouraged to look at the various board game websites that review games. The most famous is BoardGameGeek.com.

You will also learn where to find free "Print and Play" games (PNP) and explore that genre -- games for free!

The group leader will start by bringing his own games that he already knows how to play. Later he will bring games he has never played, and he is excited to have others help in learning how to play them!

All games have a number of players designation -- solo, 2 players, 2-6 players. But all games can be played by any number of players -- you just have to get creative to do so.

This group is about learning, and not about seeing who can be the best player.
