Sharing Your Home: Benefits, Pitfalls, and Best Practices

You’re invited to a hands-on discussion on the benefits, challenges and best practices of sharing a home. Homesharing is an ever-growing trend in housing-impacted California with 18+ programs offering free and fee-based services. We will clarify the concept with real stories of non-related seniors living together. We will go over the different options to connect with a potential housemate, and review practical ways to assess compatibility. You will get a chance to flesh out their own profile and that of their desired home-mate.

In February 2020, Julie André became the Northcoast Homeshare program coordinator. Originally from France, she moved to Humboldt County to live with her partner. Since 2007, she has worked locally for different nonprofits and government agencies to promote and support access to services of diverse populations aged 0 to 92.
