As we all come to terms with the recent events on campus, it is important to recognize the emotional impact they have taken on us, individually and collectively. We want to acknowledge that this has been an extremely challenging week for Cal Poly Humboldt. We are hurting within our campus community and beyond, and we have much work in front of us to reset, rebuild, and heal. This will take time. We will do this together.

Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Ann Lindsay, MD, Life Plan Humboldt: Get an update on the Life Plan Humboldt and learn about the transition from a traditional home into a planned community.

What is it like deciding to move into a life plan community and transitioning to life there? Ann Lindsay, of Life Plan Humboldt, will lead a discussion with Holly Jordan of Clark Lindsay Village in Urbana, Illinois, and Eva Laevastu and Kathy Blume of Willamette View in Portland, Oregon, about their experiences.

Ann Lindsay, MD, is president of the Life Care Humboldt board of directors, a group focused on establishing a non-profit senior life plan community in Humboldt County. She was Humboldt County Public Health officer from 1993 to 2011. She and her husband, Alan Glaseroff, MD, shared a family practice in Arcata for 28 years and raised their two children here. They were recruited to Stanford University in 2011 to establish a primary care clinic for Stanford employees and dependents and their families who have multiple chronic health conditions. The clinic improved care, lowered costs and achieved top rankings in patient satisfaction with adoption of a new model of team care. The lure of life in Humboldt brought them back north in 2017. Ann is working on Life Care Humboldt so she will not have to leave Humboldt County again!

Holly Jordan is 75 years old and has lived at Clark Lindsey Village for 6 years. She practiced law in Campaign-Urbana for 35 years. After dealing with selling their home, down-sizing and moving, she and her husband are extremely pleased with their facility, and their decision to move when they did.

Eva Laevastu retired in 2003. In addition to cycling and photography, Eva volunteers with nonprofits to help with technology.

A former Air Force officer, Kathy Blume has been “retired” a long time. She plays the cello and has volunteered in many different organizations. Kathy and Eva moved to Portland from Bayside in 2019. They selected Willamette View after significant research, visiting eight CCRC or life plan communities.
