A Message to the Campus Community

May 1, 2024 - 1:47 p.m.

Dear Students and Colleagues,

As we all come to terms with the recent events on campus, it is important to recognize the emotional impact they have taken on us, individually and collectively. We want to acknowledge that this has been an extremely challenging week for Cal Poly Humboldt. We are hurting within our campus community and beyond, and we have much work in front of us to reset, rebuild, and heal. This will take time. We will do this together.

The Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse: Past, Present, and Future

Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse

Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Jan West, Retired Educator/Trinidad Civic Club Co-president

Monday, May 17, 2021 - 12:00pm

The Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse is an historic icon of Humboldt County that was threatened by coastal erosion. The Trinidad Civic Club, whose members are stewards of the Lighthouse, are dedicated to preserving its maritime history and continuing the tradition of sponsoring a memorial site for those lost and buried at sea. The presentation will document the story of the Memorial Lighthouse through historical and recent photographs, including the Trinidad Head Lighthouse. The coastal erosion, the moving of the lighthouse, and plans for the future memorial site in the Trinidad Harbor will be covered and depicted.

The Trinidad Civic Club is a non-profit organization, dedicated to community support by enhancing the lives of others through service.

Jan West is a retired educator from Trinidad School and Cal Poly Humboldt. She is currently serving as co-president of the Trinidad Civic Club, and is active in community projects.
