A Message to the Campus Community

May 1, 2024 - 1:47 p.m.

Dear Students and Colleagues,

As we all come to terms with the recent events on campus, it is important to recognize the emotional impact they have taken on us, individually and collectively. We want to acknowledge that this has been an extremely challenging week for Cal Poly Humboldt. We are hurting within our campus community and beyond, and we have much work in front of us to reset, rebuild, and heal. This will take time. We will do this together.

Climate Action Update: A Whole New World!

Andrea Tuttle

Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Andrea Tuttle, Forest and Climate Policy Consultant

Monday, April 5, 2021 - 12:00pm

A new administration, a tipping point in public attitudes, a rush of corporate commitments to become carbon neutral -- suddenly the landscape to address climate change has flipped. Let's take a look at the new opportunities opening up, and ways to get there.

Andrea Tuttle is an independent consultant in forest and climate policy, focusing especially on keeping forest land in forest use for all the environmental and economic benefits that forests provide.

An early education in biology alerted Andrea Tuttle to the terrible consequences of global climate change on the natural world. A career in forest and climate policy has let her participate in work in California and overseas, serving on various boards and positions in Sacramento, including director of the California Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection. She now serves on the boards of the Save the Redwoods League, the Pacific Forest Trust, and enjoys providing updates on climate policy to Humboldt classes and elsewhere.
