A Message to the Campus Community

May 1, 2024 - 1:47 p.m.

Dear Students and Colleagues,

As we all come to terms with the recent events on campus, it is important to recognize the emotional impact they have taken on us, individually and collectively. We want to acknowledge that this has been an extremely challenging week for Cal Poly Humboldt. We are hurting within our campus community and beyond, and we have much work in front of us to reset, rebuild, and heal. This will take time. We will do this together.

Clay Kingdom: Exploring the Wonders of Clay (Ages 5-13)

31172/31173

With Baili Farris

This summer at the Studio School, budding young artists will delve into the fascinating and versatile world of clay, while unleashing their imagination and honing their sculpting skills.

We will explore different types of clay – from traditional to polymer – and their characteristics and challenges. Participants will learn techniques like coiling, pinching, slab building, and sculpting, under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Plenty of hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations, and fun-filled games will inspire creativity and foster a love for the arts. Whether crafting miniature sculptures, designing functional pottery, or experimenting with clay jewelry, participants will be free to explore their interests and express themselves in a supportive and encouraging environment.

There will also be opportunities to connect with fellow artists, make new friends, and create lasting memories. Activities including outdoor picnics and collaborative art projects will be filled with laughter, learning, and joy.

Baili Farris

Baili Farris graduated from Humboldt State University with a bachelor's degree in art education and studio art. She immersed herself in every artistic medium she could access. After college she found herself focusing on intertwining nature and personal connections into practices in photography, printmaking and sculpture. She hopes to bring art into everyday life, appreciating the little things, and creating art that is both eye-catching and utilitarian. Art that helps every space become imaginative. When she is not creating, she spends her time with her animals who are truly a part of her ever growing family, from her one legged duck Ponyo to her fluffiest pup Umi.
