Updates for Campus Hard Closure during Finals Week

Dear Students and Colleagues,

The University continues the hard closure of campus through May 12. Access to campus is restricted, and individuals are not permitted to enter or be on campus without prior authorization. Updated information is available about resources available during finals week. 

The University will hold Commencement ceremonies at three off-campus locations on Saturday, May 11, 2024. They will take place concurrently in the Sapphire Palace at the Blue Lake Casino, the Eureka Theater, and the Eureka High School Auditorium. Each of the venues has the capacity to accommodate all of the registered graduates’ anticipated guests.

Singing

Singing Games

Ages 0-4

30 min., 10-10:30 a.m., Fulkerson Recital Hall

Instructors: Larry & Katri Pitts

This parent-participation class is based on the theory that children develop musical vocabulary in the same way they develop language skills. Songs, games and movement are used to help children learn to audiate, or internally become aware of pitch and beat. A diversity of musical styles is used in order to immerse children in many different modes and meters.


Musical Theater Program

Humboldt Music Academy offers 4 levels of Musical Theater instruction. Each class performs in the End-of-Term concert, the Sunday following the last class.

All Musical Theater classes are led by Katri & Larry Pitts.

Introduction to Musical Theater  

Ages 4-5 

30 min., 10:30-11 a.m., Fulkerson Recital Hall

Basic singing, acting and dancing technique for young musical theater enthusiasts.

Musical Theater

Ages 6-8

1 hour, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Fulkerson Recital Hall

Sing, dance, and act in a musical skit, complete with costumes and staging.

Advanced Musical Theater

Ages 7-and up with instructor approval

1 hour, 12-1 p.m., Fulkerson Recital Hall

Further development of dancing, acting, and singing techniques culminating in a complete musical skit performance.


Xylophonium Classes

Xylophonium classes will not be offered in Winter 2018-19.

Introduction to Xylophonium 1

Ages 4-7

45 min. 9:15-10 a.m.

Instructor: Teresa Walker

Learn to play xylophone and other pitched and unpitched percussion instruments in an ensemble while we dance, sing, and play together. In this class children will learn the elemental building blocks of music composition and improvisation using the Orff Schulwerk approach to music for children. Let's PLAY!

Ages 7 & up

45 min., 10:15-11 a.m.

Xylophonium

Ages 9-12 with instructor approval
