With Elliott Parivar, Ph.D., Retired Science Teacher / Adjunct Professor
In these hands-on crash courses, you will examine the chemistry and physics that apply to our everyday lives, without the complicated formulas and explained in simple terms. You will acquire interesting tidbits and life-saving skills by learning the science behind our physical world. In a science lab you will conduct fascinating experiments and observe demos in class on weather, heat, sound, light, color, EM radiation, forces of nature, and gravity.
- Nov. 4: The Science of Everyday Things: Weather - Learn about the science of weather, pressure, and heat — cloud formation, rain, snow, sleet, hail, tornadoes, hurricanes, phase changes — and the survival skills needed in harsh weather conditions.
- Nov. 18: The Science of Everyday Things: Periodic Motion - Learn the science of periodic motion and waves, sound waves and musical instruments, EM radiation, light waves, color, and paint.
- Dec. 2: The Science of Everyday Things: Gravity & More - Learn the science of forces, motion, Newton’s Laws of motion, gravity, and astronomy.
