As he explored Alaska in 1879, John Muir had his first prolonged intimate contact with Indians. We will retrace Muir’s travels in Southeast Alaska and discuss his attitude towards Native Americans and how it changed after time spent in a Tlingit Canoe in Southeast Alaska.
