Did you know that Humboldt County has over 35 organizations dedicated to different aspects of the county’s history? The plethora of history organizations in the county make this region a hot spot for historical research, but it can be daunting to navigate all of these different organizations and figure out where to start first when looking for information! Join local historian Katie Buesch for a primer on how to conduct local research, including the specialties of different local history organizations and information on newly available online resources (most of which are free to access) that have revolutionized local research. You will will receive a contact sheet with phone numbers and emails for local history organizations, along with a short summary of their focus topics.

Katie Buesch

Katie Buesch graduated from Humboldt State University with degrees in anthropology and religious studies in 2017 (summa cum laude). She was the registrar then executive director and curator at the Clarke Museum from 2017-2022 before moving to Sacramento to pursue her masters in public history.
