East of Arcata Bay

43872

With Jerry Rohde, Historian and Ethnogeographer

Everyone is familiar with Highway 101 between Eureka and Arcata. But do you know what was there before the freeway? We'll find out as we look at former wetlands, logging railroads, ranches, and quarries along with such tiny towns as Bayside, Indianola, and Freshwater. The course will be based on Jerry's recent book, Humboldt Bay Shoreline; North Eureka to South Arcata: A History of Cultural Influences. Students will be given access to the electronic version of the book.
