
Nora Wynne has been teaching in middle and high schools in rural northern California since 1999. She has most recently taught Spanish and served as an instructional coach for the McKinleyville Union School District. She also served as the immersion coordinator for the Spanish Immersion program at MUSD.
Nora has been an instructor in the Teacher Preparation program at Cal Poly Humboldt's Secondary Education program since 2005, with a focus on culturally responsive pedagogy and multicultural education. She teaches Classroom Management and Multicultural Issues in Education. She also teaches in the Department of Critical Race, Gender, Sexuality Studies.
Prior to earning her teaching credential in 1999, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural eastern Guatemala, working with farmers and teaching environmental education. She loves to spend time with her family, at the beach, in the mountains, or traveling. She has an M.A. in education and a B.S in environmental biology. She can make a pretty good peach pie and runs the occasional middle distance race. She was the 2020 Humboldt County Teacher of the Year and 2021 California Teacher of the Year. She is currently working as a learning specialist at the Humboldt County Office of Education.
