Back to Camp: Lifelong Learning in the Redwoods

Second Annual Back to Camp: Lifelong Learning in the Redwoods

A five-day summer camping experience for OLLI members

The 2023 Back to Camp experience has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

This Summer, OLLI at Cal Poly Humboldt will again offer a unique outdoor education experience on the pristine north coast of California. Campers stay at Wolf Creek Education Center in a beautiful park setting adjacent to Redwood National Park. Outdoor classes, catered lunches and dinners, songs around the campfire, and a variety of fun activities make this a camp to remember. The center has hot water showers, restrooms with flush toilets and a commercial kitchen. Sleeping accommodations are in group cabins or in personal tents.

The camp, classes, and activities is open to OLLI members only.

Registration is now closed.

Enjoy discovering the many facets of the vast North Coast. Between classes there will be time for exploring nearby trails along the beach and into the redwoods. Activities may include walking in Fern Canyon, visiting waterfalls, viewing rock formations, and possible Roosevelt Elk sightings.

OLLI has partnered with local guides, leaders, and community groups to create this unique outdoor education experience in the pristine redwood forest on the North Coast of California.

How it works:

Everyone will need to renew their membership for 2023-2024, which begins July 1, 2023 and runs through June 30, 2024. Sustaining and Lifetime members will automatically have their membership renewed.

Submit the camp registration form and you will be provided with a link to make your payment for camp. Once you make your payment, you will receive a confirmation and we will start preparing your personalized adventure.

Your camp advisor will guide you through the process so we can make sure you adventure safely. When all of your information is received and processed, the advisor will guide you into securing your space in the classes and activities that suit your interests and adventure level.

Bring your sense of adventure and fun, and leave your electronic devices behind. There is limited or no WIFI at the Wolf Creek Education Center.

Unfortunately, no scholarships are available for this program.

The average temperatures in August range from 60-75 degrees, a perfect escape from the heat of other areas.
