Tools for Big Gifts


Course Description:

Gain the "toolbox" which contains information and instruction on methods to develop prospects and donors for the large gifts -- those that can make a critical difference in the operations and programs of nonprofit organizations. Participants will understand the principles of capital campaigns and planned giving; practice asking techniques; and gain assessment strategies to be able to analyze their organization’s fundraising programs.

Janice Gow Pettey

Janice Gow Pettey

Janice Gow Pettey is a nonprofit consultant, author, and noted authority on diversity, ethics and nonprofit governance. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of San Francisco, School of Education. Janice is chair emeritus of both the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Ethics Committee and the Research Council. In 2008, Janice was awarded the Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy Award from the Golden Gate chapter of AFP. In 2017, she was honored with the Henry A. Rosso Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Ethical Fundraising by Indiana University, School of Philanthropy. During her nonprofit career, she served both as CEO and led the development efforts of diverse organizations including The Asia Foundation, Sacramento Region Community Foundation, American Red Cross, Palo Alto University, and the Foundation for City College of San Francisco.
